Alien Pom Pom Kit

You will need:

• Large stripped pom pom
• 2 pieces of pipe cleaner
• 2 sticky back feet or non sticky back
• 2 wiggle eyes

Instructions

1. Glue the large pom pom to the two feet as per the picture ensuring the sticky side of the feet face downwards.
2. Glue the wiggle eyes onto the front of the pom pom.
3. Twist and shape the 2 pieces of pipe cleaner to the desired  shape and glue to the top of the pom pom.
4. Take the pieces of paper of the bottom of the feet and stick to the dashboard of the car.  If you are using feet which are not  sticky back ones then place your completed pom pom on a shelf to display.

If you don’t have stripped pom poms then any colour is fine and the bigger the better.

Elephant Pom Pom Kit

You will need:

• 1 large grey pom pom
• 1 medium grey pom pom
• 4 small grey pom poms
• 1 piece of grey foam
• 2 pieces of grey pipe cleaner
• 2 wiggle eyes

Instructions

1. Using the template, cut out the ears from the piece of foam
2. Glue the medium pom pom to the ears to form the head.
3. Stick the wiggle eyes to the head.
4. Twist the large piece of pipe cleaner around a pencil to form a coil for the nose and glue to the front of the head just below the eyes.
5. Glue the head piece to the large pom pom.
6. Glue the 4 small pom poms to the body to form the legs.
7. Curl the small piece of pipe cleaner slightly to form the tail and glue to the back of the body.

Flying Saucer

You will need:

• Piece of coloured foam or card
• Shiny gems or stickers for decoration
• Piece of sticky magnet

Instructions

1. Cut a flying saucer shape from your piece of foam or card.
2. Decorate using your shiny gems or stickers.
3. Stick the piece of magnet to the back and you are ready to display on your fridge.

Fairy Wand

You will need:

• Coloured plastic straw
• Small piece of craft foam or coloured card
• Some shiny bits or stickers to decorate
• 2 small pieces of curling ribbon (the plastic kind you find in card shops)

Instructions

1. Cut a star shape from your piece of foam or card.
2. Decorate using your chosen shiny bits or stickers.
3. Glue your curling ribbon to the bottom of the star at the back so as to hide the glue.
4. Once dry,  glue the star to the end of your straw.  Once dry your little one is ready to create some magic.

This would make a great craft for keeping those little ones busy at a themed craft party.

I find that a “Cool Melt” glue gun is ideal for this project.   As this type of glue gun does not get as hot as a normal one, with a little supervision it is ideal for kids to use.  You can buy a “Cool Melt” glue gun complete with glue sticks  from www.one-stop-party.co.uk

Edna the Emu Pom Pom

You will need:

• 1 large pom pom
• 1 small pom pom
• 1 pipe cleaner
• 2 wiggle eyes
• Orange foam for beak

Instructions

1. Cut a piece of pipe cleaner 5cm long to use for the neck.  Cut the remainder of the pipe cleaner in half for the legs.
2. Shape the pipe cleaner to form the feet and knees as per the picture.
3. Glue the two legs to the large pom pom and allow to dry.
4. Glue the neck to the small pom pom and allow to dry.
5. Using the orange foam, cut a small piece for the beak and glue to the head.
6. Glue the two eyes on to the head just above the beak.
7. Glue the head and neck to the body and allow to dry.
8. Glue the feather to the back of the bird and you’re now ready to display.

Any colour pom pom and pipe cleaner works well.

Pass the Balloon

Here is a great game for any party.  All you need are teams of children and some long balloons.

Instructions

1. Split the guests into two teams.  If you have a large number of guests you can have more teams.
2. Get each team to line up in a straight line.
3. Give each guests at the front of the line a long balloon which they then hold between their knees.
4. When you say “GO” they have to turn round and pass the balloon to the next guest without using their hands.
5. The person who has the balloon then passes it to the next team member.
6. If anyone drops the balloon they have to go to the back of the line and try again.
7. The winning team is the first team to pass the balloon to each guest.

Don’t forget to have a prize for the winning tam.  Lollies for everyone always works well.

Squeak Piggy Squeak

This is another game to get everyone laughing. All the guests sit in a circle. I’ve found that if they can all sit on a chair it makes it a lot easier. One guest is chosen and stands in the middle of the room. They are blindfolded and spun around. The chosen one has to then go and sit on someone’s lap and say “Squeak, Piggy, Squeak!”. The guest who has been sat on then has to say either “Squeak” or “Oink” three times. The chosen one then has to guess who they have sat on. If he guesses correctly, the “Piggy” puts on the blindfold and the process starts again. If they are wrong they have another go.

Hot Potato

This is a a bit like pass the parcel but you use a potato instead. The idea of the game is not to be left with the potato when the music stops.  Last guest in the game is the winner.

Materials Needed:

• Potato
• Music
• Prize
• Helper to control music

Instructions

1. Sit all guests in a circle ready to start.
2. Choose a guest to start the game.  To save arguments you could always start with the Birthday Boy/Girl.
3. While the helper is not looking, the potato is passed from guest to guest while the music is playing.
4. The helper will stop the music and the guest who is holding the potato is out of the game.
5. The game continues until you have one guest left and they are the winner.

Egyptian Mummy

Here is a game which would go down well at any Halloween party.  This game is a fast-paced game that will liven up any party leaving your guests in fits of laughter.  Guests are divided into pairs.  The aim of the game is to race to see which team will be the first to successfully wrap a mummy.

Items required for this game are as follows:

• Guests divided into two teams.  If you have a large group you can have more teams.  You need two guests at least per team.
• A roll of toilet paper (value brand of course) or crepe paper, one for each team.
• A prize for the winning team

Instructions:

• Get each team to decide who the “Mummy” will be and who will be the “Mummy Wrapper”
• Give each wrapper the roll of toilet paper/crepe paper.
• On the word “GO” each wrapper races to wrap the mummy as quickly as possible.

The team that finishes the first is the winner.
